25 minutes from the campsite, discover Rochefort en Terre, one of the most beautiful villages in France, elected favourite village of the French in 2016. This famous city is known as a flowery village par excellence. Tourists visit it for its magnificent Christmas illuminations, its many craftsmen and art galleries and its mythical atmosphere. Enjoy the charm of Rochefort-en-Terre during your camping holiday in Southern Brittany!
This village on a rocky outcrop dates back to the 12th century and is so well preserved. It's like a theme park with a mix of history and magic. Stroll through the narrow streets of the village, contemplate its ramparts and old houses and appreciate the charm of this small town of character. If the town is beautifully decorated with flowers, you should know that it all started with a competition by the American painter Alfred Klots. He fell in love with the village and in 1911 launched a competition for the most beautiful balcony in bloom. Today, the Rochefort people continue the tradition and they still enjoy decorating the fronts of their houses. Everywhere, geraniums and ivy highlight the stone with their colourful flowers. Enjoy the architecture of the corbelled houses of the Place du Puits and the Rue Saint-Michel and don't neglect the main square of the village, the Place des Halles, where you can take some holiday photos. Two monuments not to be missed during your walk in Rochefort en Terre: the Church of Notre-Dame-de-la-Tronchaye and the unmissable castle with its park hosting numerous events in winter and summer.
The many shops and craft workshops are one of the village's main attractions. Don't hesitate to go through the doors to discover the treasures of the town: regional products, decorations, jewellery, accessories... You will be spoilt for choice to take a souvenir of Rochefort-en-Terre with you on your camping holiday in the Morbihan. The village also has a number of restaurants, including several crêperies that will not let you forget its roots in Brittany. Finally, enter the Naïa Museum, an unusual museum that will immerse you in fantastic and dreamlike works of art that fit perfectly into the magic of Rochefort-en-Terre.
The Moulin Neuf Aventure leisure centre has many activities to enjoy with family and friends. The beach, which is supervised during the summer, offers a variety of water sports: paddle, pedal boat and zip line over the lake! Take a walk around Rochefort-en-Terre along the banks of the Moulin neuf pond. A 5-minute drive away, visit the prehistory park of Brittany in Malansac to meet some dinosaurs and learn how to make fire as in the time of Homo erectus. A playful and instructive open-air walk that will delight the little ones!
