This village on a rocky outcrop dates back to the 12th century and is so well preserved. It's like a theme park with a mix of history and magic. Stroll through the narrow streets of the village, contemplate its ramparts and old houses and appreciate the charm of this small town of character. If the town is beautifully decorated with flowers, you should know that it all started with a competition by the American painter Alfred Klots. He fell in love with the village and in 1911 launched a competition for the most beautiful balcony in bloom. Today, the Rochefort people continue the tradition and they still enjoy decorating the fronts of their houses. Everywhere, geraniums and ivy highlight the stone with their colourful flowers. Enjoy the architecture of the corbelled houses of the Place du Puits and the Rue Saint-Michel and don't neglect the main square of the village, the Place des Halles, where you can take some holiday photos.
