If the town is beautifully decorated with flowers, you should know that it all started with a competition by the American painter Alfred Klots. He fell in love with the village and in 1911 launched a competition for the most beautiful balcony in bloom. Today, the Rochefort people continue the tradition and they still enjoy decorating the fronts of their houses. Everywhere, geraniums and ivy highlight the stone with their colourful flowers.
